Tom Hiddleston: quotes

June 28, 2014

artistsA few months ago, when I was talking to my girls from Hiddleston’s Army Romania, I said that I wasn’t exactly a Tom Hiddleston fan. An assertion which quickly went out the window since then. Whoever follows this website and my Facebook page knows that I enjoy sharing images from the films or series I love and I also like making edits using quotes from said films or from interviews. So one day a friend said: “please be the first to publish a book of quotes from Tom”. Sorry, love… I can’t give you a book. But I thought it would be a good idea to bring together some of the quotes and their sources. Here they are (in no particular order). The list remains open; if there’s any quote you would like to see, I will be happy to add it.

You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and one day you look back and you’ve climbed a mountain.” (source)blushing

“Blushing is amazing, if you think about it. Your own body can call your bluff.” (source)

“Whenever I sometimes feel a smidgen of fear, it’s like a little friend you just have to hug and say “I’m afraid we’re doing this and you got no choice in the matter”. And then he has a really good time.” (source)

“Actors in any capacity, artists of any stripe, are inspired by their curiosity, by their desire to explore all quarters of life, in light and in dark, and reflect what they find in their work. Artists instinctively want to reflect humanity, their own and each other’s, in all its intermittent virtue and vitality, frailty and fallibility.” (source)

“Never, ever, let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do. Prove the cynics wrong. Pity them for they have no imagination. The sky’s the limit. Your sky. Your limit. Now. Let’s dance.” (Source)

waiter“Waiter. It was at a showy opera festival in a barn in Oxfordshire. I did it for a whole summer and people would be so extraordinarily rude that it made me decide that I would never be rude in my life, specifically to people who were kind enough to serve me things.” (source)

“Hank’s life has a tragic arc, but in simple truth, he was a genius: a star that burned twice as bright and lived half as long. It’s a huge role for me and a huge responsibility. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.” (source)

“My mum always taught me the value of knowing, recognizing and acknowledging when you had a good day. There are so many bad days you will have in our lives and it’s good to know when you had a good one.” (source)

“I’d like to fight everybody who wants to make war on people. I’d like to fight bullies, actually. I’d like to stand up to the bullies in this world. I was actually mugged once in London, and I was completely defenseless. They came at me with a… I was held at knifepoint. And I felt so angry that I let them do it and I think I’d like to go back and say ‘Look, it’s okay’, and if they tried to stab me, I could just say ‘You can stop that now’.” (source)do your best

I am an optimist… I choose to be. There is a lot of darkness in our world, there is a lot of pain and you can choose to see that or you can choose to see the joy. If you try to respond positively to the world, you will spend your time better.” (source)

“Every time you consider a job, you have to check in with your inner compass and say, ‘Does this fit in with how I see what the work is for? Is this going to be something interesting and valuable to contribute to the world?’” (source)

“I don’t think anyone, until their soul leaves their body, is past the point of no return.” (source)

“I was so lucky because what I did in ‘Thor’ was I built the character from the ground up – the foundations of his spirit, really. He was someone who was born with an expectation that he would one day be a king, born with an entitlement.” (source)

Do your best. Feel free to fail. Or at least, feel free to move so that not everything has to be perfect because, God knows, life isn’t built characterperfect and there are rough edges and, on your way to becoming good at something you necessarily have to stumble and bump and fall, and pick yourself up, and dust yourself off, and go again.” (source)

“I’ve always found that quality really sexy in women. Self-possession. Quiet confidence. An acceptance of difference. A certain… mischief. A sense that things could be a little “exciting”. (source)

Stay hungry, stay young, stay foolish, stay curious, and above all, stay humble because just when you think you got all the answers, is the moment when some bitter twist of fate in the universe will remind you that you very much don’t.” (source)

Such a wise young soul and to think he’s barely starting out; imagine how much inspiration he could bring to people in years to come!

I am proud and happy that I have the chance to watch him grow, to see live, so to say, what he has to give. He’s wonderful!
