Under the Shade of a Weeping Willow Tree

under the shade of a weeping willow tree

Under the shade of a weeping willow tree
In a secluded corner where no-one can see
Half-obscured by branches drooping low
I take a deep breath, and I let myself go

I close my eyes and block out the stress
Sigh softly at the breeze’s gentle caress
I dig my fingers into the dirt and hold tight
Ground myself, but let imagination take flight

Under the shade of a weeping willow tree
I take a leap of faith, let my desires run free
Let all my hopes shimmer in the air so close
Like fairy dust, pollen, the fragrance of a rose

I listen to the sound of Mother Nature all around me
Of rustling leaves, ruffled feathers, a busily buzzing bee
The slow, steady thump of my heart to an ancient beat
The flutter of a tiny bird, pecking curiously at my feet

Under the shade of a weeping willow tree
I toss away sorrows, fling my shoes away with glee
I dip my toes into crystal water so cool and clear
Let it soothe my nerves, let it drown my fear

I glance at dappled sunlight filtering through leaves
The green-yellow serenity of everything at peace
I picture myself as a magnificent white swan gliding
I’m flying, finding myself instead of merely hiding

Under the shade of a weeping willow tree
In a secluded corner where no-one can see
I breathe deeply, and I know instinctively
That here I can be who I really want to be

I brush my hands through the grass, over moss
Dream new dreams, forget every bitter loss
Listen to the wind whisper softly of love and light
I allow myself to grow, to yearn, to take flight

I’m happy to have it here! 🙂 Not only is it a beautiful piece, but I love the poem even more because it brought back pieces of old memories and the feeling that it’s early summer again.

I may not write anymore for inspiration is, for an indefinite period, no longer a tenant inside my brain :)). Yet that doesn’t stop me from appreciating other people’s creativity. Thank you, Elena, for sharing and congrats to the author for a superb display of skill
