Two Years of eLitere

two years of elitere

When we opened eLitere.ro two years ago, I thought that six months was a long time. That our articles would be read by a handful of people, that my own interest would fade in time. Thankfully, I was wrong and what was just an idea took flight. I’m truly happy that I have a place where I can speak about what I like, where my closest friends can come and do the same. There are people from all over the world following us, enjoying what we have to offer and sharing their thoughts with us. (Elena)

In December 2013, Elena told me that she wanted to create a website where we could write book and film reviews or articles about music. I was very sceptical at first because I thought that people nowadays are less interested in reading books or book related post. But fortunately I was wrong, because our website began to grow and the number of followers surpassed our small circle of friends, colleagues and acquaintances, and it reached people from various countries. Fandoms weren’t exactly part of the original plan, but I was drawn further into this amazing (albeit a bit terrifying) world and I just had to help it grow, even if only a little. As I told someone years ago, I’m good with a pen, but not with a pencil. I find it easy to write, but I can’t draw. Even so, our followers will definitely find something enjoyable while looking through our albums. Keep in mind that you will most probably not find the latest info about a film or an artist on eLitere, but there will be reviews, quotes, images… something more personal. From time to time, I get the feeling that I’m trying to cover too many fandoms, but I can’t help it. There’s so much to love, anything regarding Tom Hiddleston’s work (that’s how this part of the site was born, actually), Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Emma Watson, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Harry Potter… just to name a few. Oh, and vampires, can’t forget vampires. If you have any requests for an article or an image, let us know. (Elena)

I had a lot of fun reading books, researching, analysing and looking for meanings or symbols in books, songs and films. But I also discovered the book tube community that has a small Romanian branch, Goodreads (where I like to see what the website recommends after I’m rating a book I have recently read) and also Twitter, where I’ve stumbled into a land of authors and book-promoting pages, unknown to me until then. Without eLitere.ro I don’t think that I would have been interested in those websites, or not as intensely as I am right now. Elena and I befriended a few interesting people that share our interests and us two actually became closer friends, not that we weren’t before the opening of our website, but, in a world where people wear a lot of masks, a person whom you can fully trust is the most precious gift someone can have.

I don’t really know what to say about the future, but I want to diversify the genres of the books I read and to pick up books written by authors belonging to various nationalities. Another dream of mine is to publish poetry or prose (short stories, novellas or novels), but I’m fully aware that I have a lot to learn and to read, in order to build a stronger plot and relatable characters or situations. But that is a task for later. (Alina)

Thank you! (Elena)

Mulțumim, Mihaela! I’m happy that I met you, Raluca and Vlad, even though it is just online for the moment. I like the way we all reply to each other’s comments and that is a lot of fun. 🙂
