Alina's Bookish Hideout

Hello, dear readers! I wrote this post because I have a special announcement for all of you. Since March 2017 I’ve created my own blog, entitled Alina’s Bookish Hideout, where I post old reviews and other book-related articles some of you have already read, but you will find new ones too. The main reasons why I decided to go solo were the need to make a change after three years of writing for eLitere, the need to self-host my blogto learn how to manage it and hopefully take it to another level, and the wish to design it in a way that suits my personality. If you are curious or interested in visiting my blog, then please click on the link above.

What else can I tell you about my blog? At first glance, it may seem pretty plain-looking because I didn’t want to overwhelm the visitors with bling and a lot of useless graphics. All I’ve envisioned was for the blog to upload quickly and the writing to be crisp in order to enhance the reading experience. I dismissed the idea of newsletter signup pop-ups because I find them annoying, especially when you’re reading something that stirs your interest. For anyone who wants to subscribe to my blog and receive the content I post three times a week, there’s a field at the bottom of every page or in the upper-right part of the page, in the Blog section.

For now, my blog comprises of four sections: About Me, Despre MineBlog and Contact Me. Perhaps some of you think that the first two pages are redundant because they basically contain the same information about me, the blog, my reading tastes and how visitors can recommend books. I wanted to keep the “old tradition” of writing reviews in both English and Romanian to spark the interest and gather readers from both home and around the world. The Blog section contains four categories: Book ReviewsRecenzii de carte (Romanian Book Reviews), Interviews (I intend to make this kind of articles once in a while), Tags and Other Bookish Stuff, which can range from book tags to random bookish articles which are not reviews. And the last section is the Contact Me page which I believe is self-explanatory.

I haven’t prepared a rating system yet, but I need to think how to put it clearly into words. I should state if I’m interested in receiving ARCs or freebies, but, to be honest, I’ve become very picky when it comes to requests for reviews because some of the books I’ve read weren’t that good and I’m not a big fan of some of the most popular genres out there: young adult dystopian novels, science-fiction, and even contemporary. I guess I’m a bit old-school with my undying love for classics, children’s books, thrillers and adult romance. When I pick up a book, it really depends on the mood I’m in and on the topic it tackles. When it comes to series, the first instalment needs to be at least engaging to make me read the sequel.

Before I go, I would like to thank you for all your support (through likes, shares and comments); it means the world to me! I might write film reviews or other cultural stuff here occasionally, but I’m not sure when it will happen. Until then, see you on my blog!
